Barbara Sears, a founding member of the Visual Researchers’ Society of Canada, was a remarkable researcher known worldwide for her expertise in both visual and editorial research. She was dedicated to mentoring younger researchers, helping them refine their skills and providing opportunities for them to grow and contribute to our field.
Barbara’s passion for supporting others left a lasting impact, and her legacy continues to inspire us all.
In honour of her memory, the Barbara Sears Endowment Fund was created to offer members financial assistance for further education in these fields. To date, opportunities have included industry-related workshops and educational trips to libraries, archives, and museums across the country.
