About My Work:
Ayan Tani is a filmmaker, researcher, and community builder living and working in Toronto. Her first film project was a short documentary titled My Community is Here on gentrification in one of the most diverse and affordable neighbourhoods in Ottawa, her hometown. Since then she's gone on to do archival research for film, direct music videos, and complete OYA Media Group’s Emerging Filmmaker’s Programme where she served as co-director and co-writer of the short documentary Reel Black: Our Film Stories, now playing on CBC Gem. Visual Research work includes an eight-part Black History docuseries, a history of television and game shows documentary, and archival image sourcing for BAND gallery.
