About My Work
Although my time as a visual researcher for film now spans four years , my experience as a researcher has been garnered over a decade in numerous fields. In 2002 I completed a MA in Visual Culture, specializing in Costume (Dress) History at New York University. Whether researching images and content for a book on American fashion, sourcing images for a former Editor in Chief of American Vogue magazine, creating and teaching courses for the Parsons School of Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology and Concordia University, or researching images for a dress history exhibition at the McCord Museum of Canadian History, my work has involved searching for just the right image be in online, in a journal or within the pages of a fragile c. 1940s magazine. As one who is passionate about visual culture, design, history and popular culture, I consider the opportunity to delve into a world of images - and tell stories through them - a gift. In short, I love the work! Although my focus as an academic was teaching fashion history, it's impossible to do that without discussing how dress was (and is) part of a bigger picture. Technology, war, art, design, architecture, politics, trade, music and literature are inseparable from fashion. Film can also illustrate fashion - how it was worn, how it appeared and moves on the body - like nothing else. Having earned BFA in Film Studies in the 1990s and as someone who loves film and documentaries, finding just the right film footage to complete a lecture was something I loved doing. That I get to do it now as a visual researcher - be the footage about freight trains or World War I German munitions - is fantastic.I worked for nine months as the sole researcher, archivist and coordinator for four of six episodes of Megafun Productions six-part series "MegaTrains," which airs on Discovery International in 2016. I also served as the footage archivist for Israeli-American filmmaker Ilan Ziv's documentary An Eye for an Eye, as well as music and footage archivist for documentary filmmaker Danae Elon's film The Patriarch's Room. Both documentaries are co-produced with Paul Cadieux of Filmoption International.

About My Work
Along with my work as an editor and a post-production coordinator for the company Rezolution Pictures, I have also been overseeing the visual research and clearances department for the past 2 years. Rezolution Pictures is an Aboriginal-owned film and television production company based in Montreal which had a mandate to bring Aboriginal stories to the mainstream. My first project in this role was 'The Oka Legacy', a 42-minute documentary that aired on CBC's Firsthand in late 2015, working with CBC Archives, the NFB, and many other sources to obtain footage from the 1990 Oka Crisis. I continued in this role for the 13-part documentary series Working It Out Together which aired on APTN in 2016. The series goes deep into the colonial roots of the profound disparities facing Indigenous communities today while celebrating a new face of Indigenous Canada - bold, confident and healthy, moving forward with the strength of tradition, family and community. Lastly, I have been doing visual research for the feature documentary "Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. Rumble will tell the story of a profound, essential, and, until now, missing chapter in the history of American music: the Indigenous influence. Featuring music icons Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and others, RUMBLE will show how these talented Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives. With hundreds of archival elements and dozens of sources, this research has spanned 4 years and included a week-long trip Washington D.C. Rumble will premiere at Sundance in 2017 and air on APTN and HBO (Canada), Arte (Europe), and PBS (USA).

About My Work
